Enormous icicles are growing today. |
Thick ice has been forming on this rhododendron bush As long as no further rain will cover our neighborhood, we will be o.k. Just a few hours of sunshine will melt this glaze. |
Icecycles growing on the rhododendrons. 1 |
Thick ice draped over branches The last snowstorm dip not only bring a foot of snow, but also icecycles by the yard and thick as a garden hose. |
Nothing but ice today - yesterday it was s foot of snow |

Great Falls of Paterson from below - Revisited This year the water flow is extremely low due to the lack of any snow and sparse rain fall. |

Icecycles are growing rapidly The last two weeks have been extremely cold with very little precipitation. |

![]() Interesting walkway - not handicapped accessible We visited the Great Falls of Paterson. We noticed that since the opening of this national park in 1986 little effort has been made to make this place handicapped accessible. Yes, the parking lot is accessible, but that's where it ends. |
![]() National Disrepair The National Historic Park of the Great Falls of Paterson opened in 1986. Not much has been done to preserve this site. Windows have been busted. Pidgeons roosting everywhere. The falls and surrounding areas are protected as part of the National Park Service. Unfortunately, there is little evidence of work being done and keeping the area clean and inviting for visitor. Handicapped access is limited. There are many obstacles. While we were there we were pelted by gravel, thrown at visitors by workers doing lawnmowing and using handheld edge trimmers. It could be a great place, but it needs a lot more work. |

![]() Bridal Vail Falls, Bushkill, Pennsylvania This is what we did five years ago on this date, November 3, 2015. It was not an election day, so there was nothing to worry about that day other than slipping or falling on slippery leaves and crooked trails. |

![]() Saxton Falls - Dam This is a favorite spot for trout fishing in this area. The pool below the cascading water is usually crowded with fly fishermen. |
![]() The Tipping Point Water running over the edge of Saxton Falls in Warren County. You can see grasses and weeds coloring the rushing water all kinds of green and yellow. There are also the reflections of the surrounding vegetation and the colors of autumn. |
![]() Buttermilk Falls The water flow has been reduced to a trickle because of the hot summer here in Sussex County, New Jersey. |

![]() Frozen in Time |
![]() The Great Falls in Paterson This picture was taken during a period of low water flow. It always amazes me to see how water can be so calm one second and next turn into a whirlpool with spray covering the spectators a few yards away. |
![]() View from the walking bridge Whenever the waterflow is low we can use the walking bridge. It gives a nice perspective of the height of the drop off. During high waterflow times the bridge has to be closed because the spray creates slippery conditions on it. |
![]() The Passaic River at low waterflow The waterfall volume is at the lowest capacity we have seen in years. So, the Great Falls are just a trickle. |

![]() Time for an intense shower The Passaic river falling down steep walls. |
![]() The Great Falls of Paterson II As seen from the lower level viewing grandstand. This section has been upgraded, but the parking area by the upper level has giant potholes and broken glass strewn about. |
![]() The Great Falls of Paterson As seen from the viewing platform off McBride Avenue. |
![]() Great Falls of Paterson - Upper Level This part of the Great Falls of Paterson has been restored, except for the parking area. |
![]() Great Falls of Paterson - Lower Level We visit this place occasionally. There are signs promising of an upgrade of this area, but progress is infuriatingly slow. |
![]() Deluge We had some very heavy rain recently. Our gutters overflowed. We were lucky. Some towns here in New Jersey and Maryland were devastated. |

![]() Great Falls of Paterson, NJ The forces and the roar of the water is incredible when you get this close. Your camera definitely will get wet.
|
![]() Great Falls of Paterson 2008 after heavy rain It was a perfect day to photograph the falls. The water was churning wildly. |
![]() The Great Falls of Paterson During a drought the water recedes and exposes the rock wall beneath the falls. |
![]() Great Falls of Paterson, New Jersey The Great Falls are the second-highest on the east coast (second only to Niagara). The Great Falls thunders over a rocky ledge, 70 feet deep, about 60 feet wide to a broad basin descending 20 feet through traprock and sandstone to the City of Paterson.

|
![]() Paterson Falls during Drought Conditions This area is a landmark and in dyer need of restoration. There are posters of plans for restoration, but it has been years of neglect and no end in sight. We have stopped going there. http://www.nps.gov/pagr/parkmgmt/parkplanning.htm |
