A very small gray tree frog - hyla vericoloris

The After Restaurant, Route 206 S, Flanders, New Jersey

We saw this unusual shaped piece of gravel near the rear wheels of our car. I tried to pick it up, because it looked kind of pretty. It felt soft, but did not move. My husband adviced to leave it alone, thinking it was a dead animal. So I grabed a brush and a stiff shopping bag from the trunk and tried to move the dead creature. Well, it started to hop, so it was alive. After a few attempts I was able to move it off the gravel parking lot to a gassy knoll out of harms way.
