Today a new event was greeting us here. We had never been at this state park when the old weedy growth was burnt in several large fields. We had seen the results many times and always wondered how it was done. We saw many forest fire trucks and staff setting blazes at small sections at a time. They were moving very slowly from one field to the next, making sure to douse the flames before moving to the next patch. We could smell the scorched weeds throughout the park.
