This structure served as Nashville's primary train station from 1900 to 1979. The introduction of the automobile in the 1950's led to a decline in train demand. The station fell into disrepair. The last train stopped here in 1979 with only 22 passengers on board.
Fortunately, the building was restored in 1986 and reopened as a Marriott Autograph Collection hotel in 2012.
