The trails are wonderful places for hikers, bikers and horseback riders. This area was used for mining iron ore. They needed railroads for shipping the heavy ore to processing plants. Once the industry ceased to exist, the rail beds stayed behind. Somebody had the good sense of converting them to roads and miles of hiking trails.
