A lonely monarch

Byram, New Jersey

I am afraid to say, but this year has been bad for butterflies. If I have seen a handful of them, that would be about right. We have grown some milkweed, but it did not thrive. The high temperatures in July and August have pretty much destroyed the plants. They are the main source of food for the monarchs.

What a beautiful capture of this monarch, Regine, in a lovely setting. V.
