Whaleback Lighthouse est. 1830

The jagged ledge known as Whaleback lurks menacingly on the northeast side of the entrance to the Piscataqua River, but this rugged granite tower is in Maine waters by about 1500 feet. There are no keepers in this lighthouse. The light was automated in 1963.

I like the blue tones and the gradient gray background. A strong imposing yet gentle image.
