Poison Oak on the California Central Coast

A variety of shots of poison oak in the Big Sur and San Simeon areas of the California Central Coast. Note that the the leaf sizes range from just over 1 inch to almost 4 inches, from glossy to dull (and very dull if dusty/dirty), and from pale green to deep dark greens and reds. One sample shows the white berries. Plants range from very viney to small shrubs and bushes to almost treelike. Mother nature's way of saying, "Stay on the trail!" Two shots of local berry plants that are similar but note the leaf differences and the presence of fuzzy to thorny branches. Posion oak branches are smooth.
