LACMA Levitated Mass - delivering the "Mass"

More info can be had from LACMA. But these are shots taken of the heavy lift transporter used to move a 340 ton "megalith" from a quarry in Riverside to the lawn of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in Hancock Park. The originally planned route would have passed north of our place along Mission Road. But after initial planning and permits, etc., construction of a new bridge over the 71 Corona Expressway required re-routing. So it was transported up Chino Ave. about a block from our house. Traveling at night to minimize traffic disruptions, it should take about 10 days to make the trip. Size and weight of the rig will force them to travel an indirect route avoiding low bridges and weak bridges - and except for a short bit in Chino/Chino Hills, it won't take freeways. It will actually have to be routed through Long Beach and then almost straight north back into central Los Angeles. Along the way streeet lights, utility wires and traffic signals are being moved, center divider landscapes removed and replaced, etc.
