Marble-0021.jpg

This is Marble. My first glider ever. I really thought he would be with me for many more years. Marble suffered an injury which should be considered as accidental. His mate bit him in the face probably while Marble was trying to squeeze a little romantic time. The bite punctured his eye and damaged his nose. I was away on a business trip and found him injured. My wife does a good job feeding them daily, but that's about the extend of her love for MY gliders. My guess was that the injury was three days old when I found it. Within minutes of arriving from the airport and noticing, I was on my way to the vet. The injury caused an infection and after a long 7 day battle with antibiotics, anti-inflammatory, vitamins and hand feeding, Marble turned for the worst and developed pneumonia. It was downhill from there. After 3 more days and consecutive daily vet visits, Marble was not responding to treatment and had to be placed to sleep. Even at this stage, Marble was trying to recover but his body was not responding. It was and is heartbreaking. Marble and I were a team. I did favor him from all my other gliders. In fact, I heavily favored him and that's the bottom line. Why not? He was my first and for one solid year, my only glider. His pictures have been published in book in France, Canada and in regional publications, website and even in a trading cards company. Every income generated from the sale of his pictures and even the sale of his Joeys went to some kind of non-profit fund for the care of gliders or pets in general. While healthy, Marble went to the vet regularly and my vet always made remarks on how big, fat and healthy he looked. he stopped gliding and began "rolling" as he got bigger and stronger. My little pig!
This is my tribute to my hero. He was laid to rest in my yard right behind the wall from my bedroom directly behind my side of the bed. Yup, that's right...my love for this little rascal is obsessive. I miss him every day, evening, feeding time, cage cleaning time and just about every time his name is mentioned, at least one tear is in his name.

I miss you Marble. I trully miss you.

Gil< my heart is with you at this time, may he always ride on your shoulder through life, he is there, you will feel him in the breeze, a whisp of air in a closed room, his memories alone, is his way of saying he is still with you, and always will be. Physically he may be gone, but it was the spiritual connection you shared, The two of you spoke to each other without words, you shared the same feelings without really understanding why, something that can not ever be explained. Just KNOW, he is still with you..and always will be.

Hello Marble. After all these years, you are still missed, Terribly missed. Can't explain it any better other than you were loved and that's why you are missed.
For ever...
Dad.

Happy OOP Marble. Many more tears were shared in your memory today. Even today as I sit in another hotel room hundred of miles from home, my heart is by your side at home.
Always Marble.

Dad.

The bond between human and gliders is much like parent child. You have lost part of yourself, your best friend. Marble is with you watching, and waiting till you are together again. Until then he wants you to be happy. I hope in time your pain will ease. God Bless cyndiekb

Gil, I can't believe this. We've lost a great glider in Marble. I know how much you loved Marble, and how special he was. And so photogenic! Please know you're in my prayers.

I am so sorry for your loss of your sweet Marble, we can not control who comes in or leaves our lives but learn from the experience that they shared with us..Marble shared all his love with you as you did him. I picture him sitting on your shoulder right now. Who says a gaurdian angel has to be human? He will always be rolling right along with you. I wish all gliders could be loved as you loved Marble.
