This artistic event took place on 24 May 2003, on the southern outskirts of Beijing.

<< This event reacts to the SARS epidemic currently confronting all mankind in common; this exceptional natural calamity will be interpreted and commemorated via artistic means, so as to harness the liberating spirit of art and make a stand against the threat SARS has posed to our freedom to survive.

The performance will summon up a flotilla of kites soaring heavenwards in unison and dancing in the air, with over a hundred renowned modern artists creating art works ¨C installations, landscapes, performance art, films, and music ¨C in the broad open grasslands of the southern outskirts of Beijing, working to fire up the nation and the people as we stand together in unison
in these "atypical times" to resist the SARS virus with all our might, to pray for a swift defeat for the SARS virus at the hands of mankind, and to show the world how the Chinese nation can shine with zeal for life again.>>
