This story took place in Middleton, Wisconsin, on September 5, 2012. A snapping turtle found himself on the sidewalk in front of some nice houses. His pond was across the road. He needed help. One brave gentleman consulted with two not-so-brave supporters, myself included, trying to figure out what to do. The man came up with a plan. He coaxed the turtle onto an old bedspread, quickly picked it up, ran across the street, and deposited the bedspread about 10 feet from the water. About 10 minutes later, the snapping turtle was back in the water, home again.
