Whidbey Island, May 2019

Courtney was born on Whidbey Island, Washington, in the Polly Harpole Maternity Home in Coupeville. Bob and Francis lived in Oak Harbor, across Penn Cove from Coupeville; Bob was in the Navy and was a radioman in the PBYs that flew along the Aleutian Islands.

In her baby book, Courtney found several postcards that Polly Harpole sent to Frances (Holiday greetings, for example), in Polly's handwriting. On this trip, Courtney donated them to the Island County Historical Museum in Coupeville, where they will add the cards to their Polly Harpole collection and display. The museum curator told us they would look for Courtney's baby picture in their archives--we hope they find it!

This was the third time we were able to visit Whidbey Island and we were lucky enough to have Trace come with us. GREAT TRIP!
