Wat Suan Dok or Wat Buppharam, วัดสวนดอก หรือ วัดบุปผาราม, was built in 1371 A.D. (B.E. 1914) in the garden of King Kuna to keep the Great Relics of Lord Buddha which had been brought from Sukhothai. The temple had deteriorated until king Kawila (A.D. 1782-1813, B.E. 2325-2356) who ordered the restoration of the temple.
In A.D. 1907 (B.E. 2450) Chao Dararatsami, the royal consort of King Rama V, of Na Chiang Mai Royal lineage, moved the stupas keeping relics of royal persons to be placed at Wat Suan Dok. In A.D. 1932 (B.E. 2475) Khru Ba Si Wichai, a significant priest of Lana, made a restoration and reconstruction of the Wihan Luang (Main Hall).

วัดสวนดอก หรือ วัดบุปผาราม สร้างขี้นในบริเวถเสวนดอกไม้ของพระเจ้ากือนาธรรมิกราชแห่งราชวงศ์มังราย เมื่อ พ.ศ. ๑๙๑๔ เพื่อบรรจุพระบรมสารีริกธาตุที่พระสมุนเถระอัญเชิญมาแต่กรุงสุโขทัย ครั้นสิ้นราชวงศ์มังราย วัดชำรุดทรุดโทรมและร้างไปในทั้สุด ๆ จนถึงสมัยพระเจ้ากาวิละได้กู้อิสรภาพสำเร็จ และได้บูรณะวัดให้อยู่ในสภาพดีอีกครั้งหนึง
