Wat Ratchaburana Ratchaworawihan, วัดราชบุรณราชาวรวิหาร, is a first class royal monastery or Ratchaworawihan. The temple is ancient, having existed since the late Ayutthaya period when it was built by a Chinese merchant named Liab. Its original name was Wat Liab after its builder. In the Thonburi period, the temple was the residence of ecclesiastical dignitaries. In 1793 (B.E. 2336) during the reign of King Rama I, Chaofa Krommaluang Thepphithak, the King's grandson, had the temple restored with the King's support. The temple was designated a royal temple and named Wat Ratchaburana Ratchaworawihan, the same name as another temple dating from the Sukhothai period. In King Rama II's reign, 162 Buddha images were brought to the temple and the Wiharn (Main Hall) was built to hold 80 of the images. In 1945 (B.E. 2488) during World War II, the temple was seriously damaged and deleted from the official list. Later, Phra Khuna Charawat the abbot at the time and the local people helped to rebuild the temple. The present Ubosot (Ordination Hall or Main Chapel) was built in 1960 (B,E, 2503). The prominent Buddha Phrang (Pagoda) is an old monument that was restored in 1962 (B.E. 2505).

วัดราชบุรณราชาวรวิหารเป็นพระอารามหลวงชั้นเอก เดิมเป็นวัดโบราณ ชื่อ วัดเลียบ สร้างตั้งแต่สมัยกรุงศรีอยุธยา ตอนปลาย โดยพ่อค้าชาวจีน ชื่อ เลียบ เป็นผู้สร้าง ในสมัยกรุงธนบุรี วัดนี้เคยมีพระราชาคณะประจำ ต่อมาในสมัยรัชกาลที่ ๑ ในปี พ.ศ. ๒๓๓๖ สมเด็จพระเจ้าหลานเธอ เจ้าฟ้ากรมหลวงเทพพิทักษ์ ทรงมีพระราชศรัทธาบูรณะปฏิสังรณ์ รัชกาลที่ ๑ ได้พระราชทานการช่วยเหลือและทรงสถาปนาเป็นพระอารามหลวง พระราชทานนามว่า วัดราชบุรณราชาวรวิหาร ให้เป็นวัดคู่บ้านค่เมือง เหมือนที่มีมาตั้งแต่สมัยสุโขทัย ในสมัยรัชกาลที่ ๒ โปรดเกล้า ฯ ให้นำพระพุทธรูปจำนวน ๑๖๒ องค์มาประดิษฐานไว้รอบพระอุโบสถ และทรงสร้างพระวิหารไว้เป็นที่ประดิษฐานพระพุทธรูปจำนวร ๘๐ องค์ ต่อมาสมัยสงครามโลกครั้งที่ ๒ ในปี พ.ศ. ๒๔๘๘ วัดได้ถูกระเบิดทางอากาศ ได้รับความเสียหายหนัก ทางการได้ประกาศยุบวัด จนกระทั่งต่อมา พระคุณาจารวัตร ซึ่งเป็นเจ้าอาวาสในขณะนั้น ได้ร่วมกับประชาชนทำการบูรณะวัดขึ้นมาใหม่ พระอุโบสถในปัจจุบัถูกสร้าง ขึ้นใหม่ในปี พ.ศ. ๒๕๐๓ ส่วนพระปรางค์เป็นของเดิม แต่ไดมีการบูรณะใหม่ในปี พ.ศ. ๒๕๑๕
