Wat Intarawihan, วัดอินทรวิหาร, was originally a civil temple built prior to the Rattanakosin Period and called Wat Bang Khunphrom Nok after the district in which it was located. Later its name was changed to Wat Intharam in honor of Chao In who had renovated the temple and invited a monk from Vientiane in Laos to be the temple's abbot. Somdet Phra Phutthachan (Toh Prom Rangsi), a monk, very revered by the Thai people, from Wat Rakhang Kositaram, started to build a tall Buddha image in a standing posture. The building of the statue, later called Luang Phor Toh was completed in a later period and the temple held a three day celebration for the completion from March 4-6, 1928. Since then the temple fair has been continuously held in March so the people may pay homage to Luang Phor Toh every year.
