Wat Chumphon Nikayaram Worawihan, วัดชุมพลนิกายาราม ราชวรวิหาร, was built in 1632 (B.E. 2175) by King Prasat Thong (reigned 1629-1656 (B.E. 2172-2199)) at Bang Pa-In, which was the King’s birthplace. The monastery was presumably built on the site of Prasat Thong’s real mother’s residence. Wat Chumphon Nikayaram was first restored by King Narai the Great (1656-1688 (B.E. 2199-2231)), a son of King Prasat Thong. Then during the reign of King Mongkut it was completely restored by royal command and murals were painted inside. King Chulalongkorn had it restored one more time.
