Uzbekistan, Shaxrisabs, Jahongir

Timur (Tamarlane) was born near Shaxrisabz (called Kesh in the old times) in 1336.
Timur envisioned the restauration of the Mongol Empire of Genghis Khan. He is regarded as a military genius and tactician whose prowess made him one of the world's great concuerors. His armies were feared throughout Asia, sizable parts of which were laid to ruin by his relentless campains.
His military campains caused the death of 17 million people.
On the other hand, Timur is also recognized as a great patron of art and architecture.

In Uzbekestan Timur is considered as a hero, while the rest of the neighbour countries have an other opinion.

Jahongir was the eldest and favourite son of Timur and died at 22.
