The Gur Amir is a mausoleum of the Asian conqueror Timur (also known as Tamerlane)in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
Its name means the tomb of the king. The earliest part is build in the 14th century.
Timur lived from 1336-1405. He envisioned the restoration of the Mongol Empire of Genghis Khan.
