Opening day and our tour of the city for the ceremonies, we did eventually
see the massive fireworks display but when we saw the published photos we had
not seen the half of it, also the street acts, one would think we were in a
different city, we saw so little and we spent nine hours on the day.


A portion of that time was wasted on the president’s arrival and my banishment
to the press box and it became obvious that this was not a public/press event
but orchestrated for TV and we could not work so we left, we should not have
gone to City Hall at all as we missed better photo ops on the streets with the
people of Cork.


One thing though we were blessed with the weather, hurricane before the event
and it started again and lasted a couple of weeks more afterwards!
