These birds can be very reclusive and, in our experience, are more often heard than seen. There have been many nights we have been frustrated by hearing one mere yards away that never revealed itself. However, if one does decide to sit out where it can be seen, it may very well stay there until after we have photographed it and moved on. This bird never did repeat its own too-too-too call the entire time it was around. Thankfully, it did sit out in the open for as long as we were interested in photographing it.
