These well-known birds frequenly live around school ovals and grasslands where they lay their camouflaged eggs straight onto
the ground. The adults vigorously defend their nests, swooping and diving on any potential predator, whether it be an eight-year
old, a cat or a cow. The adult birds posess spurs on the shoulders which can be formidable weapons, so if these birds begin
swooping at you, it is best to heed their warning.
They feed on insects that live amongst short grass so they fly about looking forlorn (manic laughter).
