These spiders occasionally cause abject terror on account of their size and often sudden appearence from behind the portrait
of Great Aunt Mabel on the dining room wall. Although capable of biting, they are not dangerous spiders and are generally
content to stay pretty much in one place if there is a reliable source of food. This large female was found eating something
unrecognisable (having been thouroughly macerated) on the trunk of a Eucalypt tree in suburban Richmond NSW.
