Lamington Crayfish

Lamington National Park, Queensland, Australia

A large species of spiny freshwater crayfish that seems quite happy to leave the shelter of the water and wander about the
rainforest floor feeding on mosses. When startled it raises its large claws and produces a very audible hissing sound, which can
lead to some consternation amongst unsuspecting walkers.

A Lamington is a light sponge cake covered in chocolate icing and shredded coconut, often with a cream and jam layer. Crayfish
are not a usual ingredient, except in some more esoteric seafood restaurants. And there, I suspect, it's inclusion is accidental.
