Le château de Bargème (également connu sous le nom de château Sabran-de-Pontevès) possède une longue histoire, marquée par les conflits féodaux médiévaux et les sanglantes guerres de Religion françaises.
En avril 1579, Jean-Baptiste de Pontevès se retrouva engagé dans un conflit violent et amer avec les villageois. Lui et quatre autres membres de sa famille furent assassinés en ces lieux par un huguenot (protestant français) ; par la suite, le Parlement ordonna l’édification de l’église Notre-Dame-des-Sept-Douleurs, en guise d’acte de pénitence publique et d’expiation. ~VVVVV+++~

The Château de Bargème (also known as the Château Sabran-de-Pontevès) had a long history tied to medieval feudal conflicts and the bloody French Wars of Religion.
In April, 1579, Jean-Baptiste de Pontevès, came into a bitter, violent conflict with local villagers. He, together with 4 other family members, were the victims who were murdered here by a Huguenot (French Protestant), and for whom later on the Parliament ordered the Church of Our Lady of Seven Sorrows to be built as an act of public penance and atonement. ~VVVVV+++~
