Les Galeries Lafayette (fondées en 1894) sont la plus grande chaîne de grands magasins haut de gamme d'Europe. Haussmann est le nom du boulevard où elles se trouvent, après son agrandissement en 1905. Un célèbre architecte, Georges Chedanne, a été chargé de concevoir le magasin phare. Son apprenti, Ferdinand Chanut, a conçu ce dôme en acier et en vitrail de style Art nouveau de 43 mètres de haut. L'installation a été achevée en 1912. En 2021, une passerelle en verre a été ajoutée, permettant aux visiteurs de voir le dôme sous un angle unique. ~VVV~

A famous architect Georges Chedanne was assigned to design the flagship store. HIs apprentice Ferdinand Chanut designed this 43 meters high Art Nouveau styled steel and stained glass dome.
