Grave Chapel Window

St. Madryn, Trawsfynydd view map

This window is dedicated to Mary Davies, the wife of Revd. John Davies, Parish Rector from 1926 to 1939. The following words are upon it:
“To the glory of God and in loving memory of Mary Davies wife of the Rector of this Parish + This window was erected by her husband John Davies and her children”.
The image portrays the Annunciation, according to St. Luke 1:26–38. In the image, the Holy Spirit can be seen descending on Mary in the form of a dove. In her right hand is a bouquet of lilies, a gift from the Angel Gabriel, also a symbol of purity. In her left hand she is reading a book within which are the prophetic words of Isaiah 7:14 “Behold, the virgin will conceive and will give birth to a son”. Because the Annunciation took place in the spring, she is seen standing in a garden of flowers.
