St Madryn dates back to the 12th century and is where St John Roberts and Bishop Humphrey Lloyd were baptised. It was partly rebuilt after a tragic fire in 1978. The Church is part of the St John Roberts trail which ends at Cymer Abbey and it is also part of the Wales-wide Cistercian Way, see: http://cistercian-way.newport.ac.uk/route.asp?RouteID=Route09
