Behind the calm waters lies one of the most tragic and emotive stories of recent Welsh history. The drowning of Cwm Celyn and displacing its residents by Liverpool City Council for their drinking water needs (which never transpired) remains as one of Wales' bitterest memories despite the 40 + years that have elapsed since its creation and a public apology by Liverpool C.C. a few years ago.
