Wild Hamsters in Vienna. These critically endangered rodents are thriving in a few places in the city and they are native wild animals.
The wild population in Vienna is estimated at 4.000 individuals, which is the largest urban hamster population in Europe!
The Hamsters are easy to observe in the right places, but DO NOT FEED THEM! They are wild and can find their own food and you will disturbe their natural behaviour while feeding them.
It's also not necessary; you can see them foraging closely if you stay quiet and just observe.
IUCN Red List: Critically Endangered
