Black-legged Kittiwake adult/near-adult
This bird shows small evidence of immaturity, and I believe is either a third-cycle adult (just acquiring adult basic plumage in 2021) or possibly an advanced second-cycle bird nearly with an adult appearance. In this and other photos, notice the small amount of black on the primaries before reaching the tip. Black on the outer web of P10 is normal in adults, but the black on part of the outer web of P9, and minimally on the P9 inner web, is not typical of full adults. Only a tiny amount of black is seen on the outer feathers of the primary coverts, and none obvious on the alula. No other signs of immaturity are present in the bill or tail (though usually the tail is unmarked even in second cycle); the tertials are not well seen in flight so are difficult to evaluate.
The lack of dark on the bill tip and culmen, gray alula, light spot on P6, and lack of dark on P4-5, together with the only minimal black on the primary coverts, suggest to me this could be a third cycle instead of second.
