The photo with the fire tower and Christmas tree was taken in Oregon at the Quail Prarie Lookout.
I wish I could say that I've mastered the secret of metering snow, but the truth is I let the camera do the work. I do try to set exposure in a fairly bright area of the frame, and I avoid subjects in shadow. Rarely, I'll use the onboard flash to fill in if needed. Once in a while a polarizer helps, if there's a lot of reflected sunlight.

Very nice. Can you please share with me as to how you are capturing the snow and keeping it white. How are you meetering? Please let me know. I would love to photograph snow an dice correctly.

I looked.... and couldn't stop looking. Beautiful Gordon... what is that tower for with the Christmas tree beside it? Certainly beats looking out of your kitchen window onto a Highway. If you ever make it to the UK with your camera Gordon, we would love to have some of your photos on our site.
