Omega Centauri (NGC 5139)

Tivoli/Namibia

Omega Centauri is the largest globular cluster of our Milky Way. It contains about 10 Million stars and lies 17300 lightyears away from us.
Recent researches give strong indication that it is actually the core of a former dwarf galaxy, which lost most of its star to our home galaxy.
