Horsehead(B33)- and Flame(NGC 2024)-Nebula in Orion

Nerpio/Spain

One of the most scenic regions of the sky is near the bright blue super giant Zeta Orionis, though the star is about 800 lyr away, while the nebulas are in a 1500 lyr distance.
The 'Horsehead' is a dark nebula protruding into IC434, a red glowing emission nebula.
Below Zeta Orionis is the 'Flame', another emission nebula. Enshrouded within its dark filaments of dust is a newly born, very dense star cluster.
