Burgenland

Burgenland is the most eastern state of Austria. For many centuries it was part of the hungarian kingdom, but became part of Austria after World War I because of its german speaking population.
Because of the location close to the former western borderline of Hungary a lot of castles had been build ("Burg" = castle), some of them are still in the possesion of former hungarian aristocrats.
Bad Loipersdorf is located very close to the Burgenland border, so one day we made a little afternoon roundtrip to some scenic spots.
