The Big Boy locomotive visited Des Moines August 1, 2019 as part of Union Pacific's celebration of the 150 year anniversary of the transcontinental railroad. At 130 feet long and 1.2 million lbs, this is the world's largest steam locomotive. It is hinged in the middle to allow it to navigate turns. In the video, you can see the engine leaning as it navigates a 45 degree turn. YouTube video of the train in motion, with steam and whistle, give some sense of the power of this engine, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=igFnOcgUOhk&feature=youtu.be
