Giant tortoises are awesome! They're super. They're big (about 3.5 feet in length at full size, 200 kg+ ) and they're slow and they don't seem to do much apart from eat grass but they're still awesome. I could (and did) marvel at the sight of these things for days on end.
I mean, think about it -- they start out at less than the size of a human baby palm and grow to a size of 3+ feet (that's about 50 times greater than their size at birth!) despite the fact that their bulk and lack of speed make them easy targets for predators (hoorah for that thick shell!). Incidentally, they live for 100+ years!! What memories and treasures and mysteries their heads must hold!
The Seychelles also has many wonderful, colourful birds to see (though unfortunately, we couldn't visit the famous Bird Island) + other forms of sandy wildlife (the crabs are everywhere!), brief glimpses of which are captured here.

In case you're wondering, this is how big these things look next to a human.
