There are two species of zebras found in East Africa. The Burchell's zebra, also known as the common or plains zebra is the most widespread. The taller and heavier Grevy's zebra is found mostly in Central and Northern Kenya, north of the equator. Like finger prints on a human, the stripe pattern on each zebra is unique to that individual.
In February, when all of these images were taken, the zebra migration is at its height in the southern Serengeti and the adjacent Ngorongoro Conservation Area where thousands and thousands of zebras along with other plains animals dot the land from horizon to horizon - a truly magnificent event to experience first hand.
