who is this guy?

Richmond, Virginia

Note that he is following immediately behind the two Presidential limousines. This wouldn't be the guy who carries the briefcase (with the codes) attached to his wrist and follows the President everywhere he goes?

D.L. Albert,

Well, my comment was made (somewhat facetiously) to spur interest and possible feedback, which you have given (also somewhat facetiously). I will outline for you some of my own thoughts …

1) This is the vehicle that rides immediately behind the two Presidential limousines. It’s just my haunch that anyone in that vehicle is pretty important, if not to the President, then to the functioning of the motorcade. I’m guessing he is not there riding in the back of the Suburban because there was no place else for him in the motorcade and he needed to “cop a ride” with someone.

2) I’m guessing that having the hatch open is not standard protocol for the Presidential motorcade. The dome light over his head is probably on because either he or someone else in the vehicle needed the light to see something. Its my haunch that he/they had no idea what it looks like from the vantage of someone on the street (at twilight) purposefully positioning themselves within 100 feet of the path of the anticipated returning motorcade route and firing off pictures with an 8.3 megapixel camera and 200mm telephoto lens as they turned the corner. It’s my guess that, if those responsible for the functioning of the motorcade get hold of this image, we won’t have this visual opportunity again. This is just my guess.

But the question remains … who is this guy? And what does he do?

Well of course it is. Why else would he sit there in full view with his face in the light?
