One of our largest and showiest of native wildflowers growing along area rivers. Closely related to the more common Rose Mallow, it differs in having all pink petals (rather than white with dark crimson centers) and short lobes near the base of the leaf (hence the name "Halberdleaf"). The Halberdleaf Rosemallow is a type of Hibiscus, the same genus as the flowers that Hawaiian ladies will wear behind their ears.
