The news all said we'd get a bad thunderstorm the night before, so when we got up we took all the bird feeders and planters down and put anything light in spots it wouldn't blow away. All day I waited and then at around 2:25 or so I heard the first few pieces of hail hit the aluminum awning over the front door. I grabbed the camera thinking I might be able to snap a few photos of the hail, and what I got is videos of me saying some very bad words for about 5 mins straight! The damage was extensive on the house and the yard/gardens. The hailstones were about the size of tennis/baseballs and I looked it up and at that size they're coming down at about 95-100MPH!!! We had over 9 contractors come over and only two actually tried to work with us with one flaking out just before the other one said he'd do it. Well they did a good job until they bailed on us during the last 1 1/2 weeks of work, leaving us with a mess to clean up!!! All because he won a million dollar bid on another house and wanted to start it right away instead of waiting a whole week!! After another 6 months of trying to find someone to fix what he left we finally did and got our front porch done! We had planned on waiting another year to do it, but since we had the roof and siding off we thought why not, well, turns out after what he did it wouldn't have mattered anyway!! And yes this guy was highly recommended by one of the better local hardware stores. I sure as hell would NEVER recommend him! But the house is now done, all new siding (three sides were heavily damaged with the 4th only minor damage so we had to pay for that out of pocket) all new roof (whole thing was totaled) and new doors. Only one needed replacing due to the hail the other two we paid for since they were old and very leaky. It does look nicer now!
