16th annual "fish 'til it hurts..." | Huntington Cr... | Yellowstone Country

Huntington Cr...

In mid-July, I took a day off from my office to fish one of my favorite small streams in central Utah. After walking in for an hour, I began fishing with a small Stimulator and elk-hair caddis. Fishing was great, and by lunch I had caught and released 20-25 healthy fish... mostly browns with a few nice cutts mixed in. Just after lunch, as I changed my flies, the creek suddenly rose 6" and muddied with runoff from an upstream thunderstorm... becoming totally unfishable (and briefly trapping my on the wrong side!). On the way out from my abbreviated trip, I photographed some of the many wildflowers along the trail, and caught a 6" wild cutt from a small streamlet that follows the trail.
