Senenmut

SENENMUT

Senenmut was a man of humble origins, but he rose through the ranks of the court to become Queen's Hatshepsut's closest advisor, and also tutor to Hatshepsut's daughter Neferure. The pride that this man took in his important relationship with the princess Neferure is reflected by sculptured portraits of himself holding the young girl. Senenmut was not only Chief Architect and Overseer of Works, but he also held titles of Chief Steward of Amun, Overseer of the Granaries of Amun, of the Fields of Amun, of the Cattle of Amun, of the Gardens of Amun, thus being unrivalled in the administration of the country.
Scholarship aside, we know that Wazza can not help himself in the presence of the faintest hint of a romance. So be it, age related degeneration takes its toll. It so happens that there are over seventy door ways in Hatshepsut's Mortuary Temple. Some time back way down in the undercroft away from anything but the faintest flicker of light the restorers came across a glyph and an outline of Senenmut's character behind one of the doorway architraves. Imagination ran rampant and it was suggested that Senenmut had hidden this illustrative group far away from mortal eyes as a statement for all time of his undying adoration for his Lady Hatshepsut and her daughter of whom he may have been the Father.
