West Bank - Luxor

This long lens view will help you no end. Interestingly I had no idea that this was how it looked until I had been long home, and back tracked the archive. The two tombs look on much the same ground level don’t they. But no Tutankhamun and the valley floor are much lower, the valley floor is artificially elevated by excavation spoil, and you walk down many steps with an extra ticket to see the boy King. No, not The Boy King. That is depreciating and even incorrect. He died young, at least I got that right. And what of the lovely Ankhesenamun and the two little daughters.

And these days you do get to see him - literally. I must say I do not agree with exhibiting human remains. I am told they pull the crowds. Hmmmm. I did go to see the boy King years ago when his remains where not paraded in a glass cabinet. One could peacefuly reflect on the past.
