In mid-Spring 1992, I went for a hike in the Chichibu-Tama National Park, about 2 hours outside of Tokyo. I had just reovered from a leg injury, and was putting my walking ability to a test. Near the end of the hike I happened across this Buddhist temple, the name of which escapes me. I entered from the woods through the rear compound. Only here were the cherry trees in full blossom. Continuing throught the rear compound I was captivated by the myriad hundreds of buddhist images marking what must be a memorial or graveyard of some sort.
