I haven't worn earrings for some time but about 6 months ago I bought a couple of new pairs and found that the piercings had closed up, so I put the earrings to one side. After a discussion about piercing in the office I decided that today I should 'operate' . . . . I've got one earring in and two red earlobes.... but I won't be defeated. Ouch!

I've actually got two sets of piercings in my ears. The first set was done when I was about five and I don't really remember having it done; I just remember arriving home being very proud of my little gold hoops. The second set was done when I was about 15. I was waiting in line at the jewellers, most of the others waiting were young children. He pierced one ear and it hurt like hell... so much so that I screamed out not to do the other one, causing the children to start crying. He did it anyway. Luckily my Mother was with me because as we popped into Tesco on the way home, I duly fainted! Let's hope I don't repeat that today.
