Knitting

I've been able to knit and follow a pattern since I was about six. My mother taught me, starting me off on scarves and progressing to more complex patterned jumpers. I bought the wool for this one about 18 months ago. A colleague at work - an accomplished knitter - challenged me to a knitting race. We both chose patterns and wool and we both got off to a good start.... and we both put them in bags and forgot about them so, neither hers nor mine is finished. But now I've remembered it...

However, I must come clean and say that this isn't the worst slow knitting case I'm responsible for - I have a complicated cable pattern cardigan that I've been knitting for about 20 years. Every so often I find it, do a few rows, and forget about it again - I've been knitting it for so long that the style has been in and out of fashion several times - hehehe.

now that you've remembered, you can still win the race! :P

and regarding the other one, by the time you finish, maybe it'll be in style again! XP

A dying art & that is such a shame. These colours look fantastic Gail. Don't forget to show us the finished product :>)

that window in Japan has stirred up something! Neat knitting, and love the colour!

I remember my mum trying to explain how to knit when I was about 10, and I suppose that was just an early example of how non-existant my spatial awareness and co-ordination was. I similarly struggled with the slightly more macho thing of tying any sort of knot.
I believe my brother still has an unfinished rug-kit from around 1973...

From the thumbnail, I thought it was something under the sea. Very nice close up Gail.

I love this and I admire a knitter (you and Jeanne too) because I can only knit once someone else has started me off and they have to finish it too - I know the basic knit and purl but that's about it. Now sewing - I'm a whizz at that - not that I do any other than curtains these days....maybe after Christmas when I'll have more time on my hands.
