Vote Vote Vote

At last it's election day. Vote Vote Vote. It's no wonder successive Governments have thought they can do whatever they like, whenever they like, because by not voting we show our disinterest. Even a spoilt ballot paper is better than no vote.

If you want to get into the swing of it tonight the Guardian newspaper online are offering two great resources. Their
*front page* will give a live update of the results, but to really get into the party mood (or should that be Party) *go here* .

By the way, this isn't a million miles away from the look of our ballot papers but as I've *explained before* we don't actually vote for the Prime Minister but for a local Member of Parliament. I won't go there again... it gave me a headache last time.

That reminds me of my "cover letter." It's very direct heh heh.

Gail, I am a Tony Blair fan, also. I preceive him to be a courageous man. I really like your image of a facsimile ballot. I like that the shadow of the pen is right on the center of the line between the two. Very well composed image.

hahahahaha, "couldn't careless"!!

Nice idea, well shot!

I like Tony. Glad he won. Sounds like your system is as complicated as our (electoral college and all that).

Well it's all over now...but this is still a great composition. It's compulsory to vote here in Australia but even if it weren't I would still do it because it's my right to.

Couldn't care less!! Hehe..
Nice angle Gail and the light is nice too.

Our primaries are in a couple of weeks and I think every corner and yard has a
politicians sign in it. Is that the way it is there as well?
I like your photo, but I don't see any tick marks???? : )

x Marx the plot!
Guest 05-May-2005 23:54
Gotta laugh at the "Couldn't Care Less" one,Gail. Love how you composed this with that beautiful fountain pen!
Guest 05-May-2005 23:17
LOL! I like the "couldn't care less" category. We are having a provincial election in 2 weeks. 2 odd parties: The Marijuana Party and The Sex Party. Yes, Sex Party. They want to pass a legislation in having nude areas in parks. One guy from the Marijuana Party is running from jail. Go figure.

I keep voting although it seems to mean less all the time.

What about the Moster Raving Loony Party !

i wish real ballot papers looked like this. it'd be so much more friendly. i like how you've positioned your pen to cast a shadow right over the dividing line. and sorry for the headache last time, it was nonetheless educational. :)

Great idea Gail!

Couldn't care less...
Isn't this a victory of the politicians. In Greece we have an expression: "black" to all of them!!! You did the best with a nice shot.

One of the joys of voting for me is to see some of my old work colleagues - I saw seven of them today! Until recently, I'd worked in polling stations most years for the past 30 and today, whilst just calling in to do the deed and have a chat, I really felt at home there. Your dummy paper clearly illustrates the injustice of the millions of people putting their mark against "All the Others" and getting nowhere...
JeremyGood05-May-2005 19:45
I'll pick the last one.
Lee Rudd05-May-2005 19:40
And I couldnt find anyone at the three Polling stations I visited.... actually, they were all inside, being in a marginal helps the interest slightly!

I'll be glad when its all over with all these 'election specials' on the tv!

Excellent idea Gail - and thanks for reminding me - I still have to vote!

great shot - nice touch with the shadow. Just got back from voting. Word was that its a very good turn out in my neck of the woods. Sun was shining (just) which helps.
