Journal

It's almost time for a holiday so I'm dusting off my holiday journal. I'm not very good at this. I watch others sit for hours nursing a coffee and writing endlessly in their journals but 10 minutes, two sides of large handwriting and I'm off. I still enjoy recording some of the little things that happen though - it's fun to read them years later.

What a beautiful shot. The lighting is great, and I'm jealous of your book!

lovely shot, agree totally about lighting. When I was young(!) I used to write a journal of the gigs I went to. I love looking back on them now - there are such classic entries as 'I just can't see Depeche Mode ever being successful - they just don't have enough material'!!!!! - I wrote that in about 1981 or so. Ah well, the benefit of hindsight. Mind you, I find my blog is a really useful way to refresh my memories of something from the last two years.

Very cool, and what Ray says is true....My camera has become my "journal" now!

Lovely lighting here. I just let my camera do the writing....

Very nice. You have a great talent for using light to create interesting shadows and tones.

Nice shot, and great idea - I usually write a mini diary on holidays (if I remember) but I never thought to write them all in the one same book! Doh!

I don't believe it. You are very good in writing, we see it every day!!!
Excellent shot.

Just lie back with a cocktail and dictate it for your companion to write :-)

I like the photograph. Nice composition and light. I really enjoy writing in a journal and as you said returning years later to review.

I like the lighting in this photo. Though I wish it were just a tad sharper. All-in-all, the lighting is impressive to me.

I have seven -- SEVEN -- journals, all blank except for the first few pages. I can't keep up the habit. This is a good shot!

Beautiful composition! Very personal and dreamy.

That's one very lovely journal & I like way you have used the light to skim across it, Gail.
Guest 18-Apr-2005 22:53
beautiful subtle lighting and a fabulous looking journal. almost tempting you to read it..
David Clunas18-Apr-2005 22:44
Always rely on the camera, the journal would help remember those little things, nice shot.
Ian Clowes18-Apr-2005 22:39
You need nice writing for that - so I don't!
Enjoy though, it certainly looks the part.
Zak18-Apr-2005 22:24
you can use PaD for that as well now :-)
I have enough problem trying to think of what to write under my PaD let alone a journal! :-o

i agree with Ann, a very nice journal and with appropriate lighting.

traditional holiday journals.. no 21st century blog for you? :) writing can be quite fun, and therapeutic too (both, much like photography).
Guest 18-Apr-2005 22:15
I thought it was the bible at first from the thumbnail. :) Lovely. I destroyed most of my diaries I wrote when I was in high school. Had too many failed crushes and stupid moves. So depressing to read about it. Nah, no regrets. :)

I've never been much of a journal writer... I hate writing long-hand. But this is so beautiful of a photo.. very nicely taken.

Ric Yates18-Apr-2005 21:49
Wonderful idea - I just rely on photos but writing down the memories and looking back at them must be great!
Guest 18-Apr-2005 21:47
Looks like a really classy journal. I wouldn't dare right anything in that.
Sheena Woodhead18-Apr-2005 21:41
