14 April
St Pauls

Usually just when I'm leaving work the weather turns miserable but today the opposite happened and it turned into a lovely blue sky. This is from my now famous bus looking towards St Pauls. Ron will tell me that this photo isn't straight and he's given me a good tip to straighten my photos (hope you noticed the difference Ron) but no matter what I did to this one something is on the lean so I concluded that St Paul's is sinking. We need a save St Paul's fund... send you donation care of Gail Davison at PBase heheeh

A beatufiul day for this shot...building can be so hard to photograph. I usually give up, completely discouraged, trying to straighten the shots :)

Jeremy's spotted my technique! The PaD makes you notice
things you wouldn't normally on the commute - great isn't it.

you sure do have interesting bus routes. :)

Just a perfect day for London. It's like Athens today. Most days in winter is sunny here. But sometimes I miss the rainy atmosphere of London.

Whats that building called again?

Hehehe Gail, youre funny, this works for me though! I remember visiting London when i was young, and my mom brought me to all these wonderful places, and I just couldnt care to appreciate it, but now that I've found photography, I really wish I took my time then to look at how amazing these places are. Looks like its time for a visit! hehe

What leaning? Uh oh...I'm in trouble. Good shot, Gail!

All I see on my way home from work is a Jack in the Box and some condominiums. You're lucky.
As for slanted photos, here's my advice, from now on, tilt your camera at a 45 degree angle for every shot and then you can honestly claim that the lean is intentional.

The center of the composition is very straight. The perspective causes these sloping periphrial lines. I like the view point, the colors and the architecture. Very nice.

envy your journey home sometimes - she's looking very lovely.

It is beautiful in the evening sun! Never mind the lean, it looks grand the way it is.

Open another bottle, I sure things will soon start to look better. Used to love seeing St Paul's at sunrise when no one else was around. Like your shot from the bus, perhaps you could give us the bus stop tour of the Big Smoke?

Excellent lighting and sky, looks so nice in the evening light. Well done!

I tend to agree with Sheena - sometimes my people go all squatty too!

I'm getting better at skewing perspective but sometimes I just make it worse than the original. I like the square crop and the lovely blue sky.

its the bus that is leaning :) Nicely captured in the evening light and with that sky!

You need a tilt/shift lens tripod mounted, just tell the other passengers to step aside and keep still !

nice shot. i need to ride the bus more. :)

i'm really bad at perspective correction, so i tried my hand at it with your photo, and while i got everything to straighten out, i didn't know how the original really looked, so rather than a sinking St. Paul, I got a slightly squashed one. :P

if you want to straighten it out, you might try rotating 1 degree counter-clockwise to straighten the round building, then drag the left side back out a bit.

if we want to save St. Paul, i think we should just get them a copy of Photoshop. ^_~

I work from the 'Robin Statford' school of architectural photography - get one of the uprights in line with one of the edges of your frame and hang the rest....BUT never mind that, this is a really nice pic of one of our loveliest landmarks!

Very beautiful image Gail, i feel like i just had a walk!
Guest 14-Apr-2005 20:38
I love the viewpoint you get from your bus. To get it all straight you would need to adjust perspective as well but I like it as it is. Very nice light.

it was maybe all them fat ladies sitting downstairs making the bus go to one side ;-)
great shot! have them people on the steps tried ringing the doorbell and got no answer? heheh
Ric Yates14-Apr-2005 20:28
Either St Paul's is leaning or you had a flat tyre on the bus!

Great image, the sky and lighting are wonderful!
